Year 6 Laptop Programme
In order to develop a strong understanding of the key expectations in the Responsible Use Agreement, students in Year 6 participate in a laptop induction programme led by the Digital Literacies Coordinator and Year 6 teachers. The aim of this programme is to help the Year 6 students transition into Year 7 and MYP with a sound understanding of appropriate, independent use of their new laptops and also to develop a digital portfolio format they can continue to use in subsequent years. The laptop induction programme will be based on the ESF Digital Citizenship Curriculum with themes of Stay Safe, Be Balanced, Stay Informed and Be Engaged. It will cover a range of topics from August to October, including:
Basic laptop care and troubleshooting
Discovery College's Responsible Use Agreement
File management
Computer safety and security
Communication
Digital footprint
Copyright and plagiarism
Cyberbullying
Digital balance
We believe that these topics will equip our students with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively use their laptops and navigate the digital world responsibly.
