Year 10 - 11
Team-base Project with industry professionals
OWN Academy specialises in real world learning programmes in schools to bring industry experience into the classroom. This year DC has collaborated with OWN Academy and designed a project based learning day with professionals and corporations, to provide students with an opportunity to experience team based, industry focused project work first hand. Students learn applicable skills from industry professionals acting as mentors, working on a business brief provided by a client company.
Students will engage in 6 key sectors, which have been developed in response to their interests:
Arts (Graphics / Design)
Healthcare / Mental Health
During the day, the student teams will work towards developing a solution to an industry specific problem, with mentoring and feedback from experienced industry specialists.
Project with industry professionals
Student teams will meet with their assigned industry specialists in the morning, to develop a plan for formally presenting their project brief solutions to their peers. Student teams will then have the opportunity to develop highly engaging presentations, based on their learning from the InvestIN sessions and feedback from the industry specialist, which they will then present to peer groups. In the afternoon, finalist teams will go on to pitch their project solutions in a Dragon’s Dean style live event, in front of a professional panel and live theatre audience. The stage is set for a high energy finale for this year’s work experience programme.
