We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for your child to embark on an unforgettable experiential learning adventure! ESF Discovery College, in partnership with Higher Ground, is hosting a series of overnight camps designed to foster personal growth, resilience, and a deeper connection with the natural world.
Why do we focus on experiential learning in outdoor environments?
Learning extends beyond the classroom walls. Our camps, located in the beautiful landscapes of rural areas such as Sai Kung, offer a unique platform for students in Years 3-5 to:

Develop essential life skills: Through engaging in activities and challenges, students will build self-confidence, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.

Connect with nature: Immersed in the beauty of Hong Kong's natural landscapes, students will develop an appreciation for the environment and learn about sustainability firsthand. Imagine exploring the island of Cheung Chau or hiking the trails of Sai Kung!

Foster resilience and independence: Stepping outside their comfort zones in a safe and supportive environment will empower students to embrace challenges and build resilience.

Create lasting memories: From campfires and stargazing to team-building games and outdoor adventures, your child will make lifelong memories and forge strong bonds with their peers.
Camp Information
Dates and Camp theme

Year 3 (Thursday, 27 February to Friday, 28 February 2025)
Embark on a 2-day, 1-night introductory camp, building foundational outdoor skills and experiencing the joys of camp life.

Year 4 (Tuesday, 4 March to Thursday, 6 March 2025)
Dive deeper with a 3-day, 2-night camp, taking on more challenging activities and developing greater independence.

Year 5 (Tuesday, 11 March to Friday, 14 March 2025)
Embark on a culminating 4-day, 3-night adventure, putting acquired skills to the test and creating lasting memories.
Accomodation
Students will stay in a dormitory style of accommodation. (Details of accommodation have already been communicated to parents). Facilities include a bedroom with a bedsheet, a bathroom with a hot shower, toilet facilities, a water fountain, and a dining hall.

We offer delicious and nutritious meals to fuel your child's active days.

Equipment and Safety
Higher Ground follows a high standard of safety in equipment and activities. Basic equipment and all specialist equipment needed for students to do the water activities during this camp will be provided as part of the programme.
Facilitation
Higher Ground staff will provide a staff-to-student ratio of 1:12, and 1:6 when using high elements and water-based activities. There will also be DC teachers/staff accompanying students at all times throughout this programme.
